Winds of Change

I am getting back to blogging and art so I am reviving this blog. I will be writing about local, regional, and national art events, my own personal artistry, and blogging about anything else art related I find interesting enough to share. Please be patient as I get acclimated to blogging again and check back periodically. I thank you for visiting and hope you return.

I got an iPhone not too long ago and have been checking out photo apps for it. There are a ton of these out there, some free, some pay. There are a few things that set each apart from the other such as better zoom, steady cam, and of course filters. One of the apps I tried was iMajiCam Pro which allows you to use the filters on photos or video depending on which button you press. So, I took a few shots of the kids using some of the artistic filters and thought I should post some of the pics here. Without further ado, here they are.

There are many other filters included. The app also has a decent zoom and full screen mode for taking shots or video. I did take more shots than this and use a few of the other filters but the results were not really worth sharing. I picked this app up for free. It has some decent filters and I think it might just stay on the phone for awhile. I am not sure these qualify as art but they are certainly "arty" photos. As always, let me know what you think.

A final photo manipulation, this one of my daughter Grace. This is just filter work, no real manipulation other than a couple of touch-ups.
Israel's Spunk
Another photo manipulation. Trying to capture the playfulness my grandson brings when he is around. Using a previous color creation as a filter and other effects for this final image.
Beth's Fire
I have been working on some digital work. This one is of my four year old daughter Beth when she had smeared candy around her mouth as lipstick. Using a previous color creation as the filter and some other effects I am attempting to capture the fire my daughter has for life.  Penny for your thoughts... Well really no money but your thoughts are always welcome.

The inaugural post! Welcome to my art blog. I know that art blogs are a dime a dozen and most are done very well and written by articulate writers who probably have a much better vocabulary and much more to write about than me. They probably have better art, more style and are more focused on everything art. But I need an outlet to talk about my art and other topics. My last blog went dormant and instead of resurrecting it, I have decided to start this one more focused on art and the occasional life topic.

Why a new blog? Well, I am glad you asked! (not really) I have been blogging on and off for about six years or so and during that time there have been times in my life when blogging had to stop because of life. So I hope with starting a new blog I can wipe the slate clean and make it more of a regular weekly or even daily place for me to write about my ideas, art, etc. I do not want to get into other things I was posting about before that were on that other blog, I want to keep this one focused on art as much as possible.

So I hope to have a few followers eventually to discuss art, ideas for art, artistic practices, techniques and anything else anyone wishes to discuss. I have been into art since a very young age. I have been to private lessons, schools, and colleges studying artistic techniques to express myself on paper, canvas, in clay, and much more. I have recently been painting for some juried exhibitions locally, in fact I just submitted a painting last week, I will post more details about that in the near future.

Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to read my little blog, I hope you enjoy the artwork and the discussions. Please stop in from time to time as I will be posting new works as they are finished, I might even post a tutorial or two as I do some of the works.
